As mentioned in previous media reports, Lepas has been confirmed as the UK’s freshest Chinese-sourced car brand, with the first announcement to surface at the beginning of February. They hardly had a room to know who they were and what they were carrying at that time. Nevertheless, within a short time, the company has already launched its first model in Britain: the flagship L8 crossover SUV.

The move is led by Chery International, and this will be implemented this year. L8 itself will be in the UK market in the third quarter of the year, what the brand calls a long term commitment to the region and not a temporary experiment.

Exterior

The all-new Lepas L8 is presented as the embodiment of the brand’s broader design philosophy. As company representatives stated in recent interviews, L8`s exterior draws inspiration “from the agile, muscular contours of a running leopard,” an image that is meant to anchor the car`s identity. Also, the LED headlights are described as distinctive and styled to echo the focused intensity of a leopard`s eye.

Lepas is positioned as a specialized New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand created for the European market. Its stated mission is to “define elegance in the new energy era, combining sophisticated design, advanced technology, and uncompromising safety to deliver a refined and confident driving experience for UK customers.”

The L8 rides on Chery International’s all-new NEV modular platform, which it shares with the second-generation Chery Tiggo 8 launched last year.

As a matter of fact, the L8 is actually the rebadged variant of the second-generation Tiggo 8, for those who can recall.
