Tire Pressure Gauges – How to Use and Inflate Your Tires

Tire Pressure Gauges How to Use and Inflate Your Tires

It’s important to keep your tires properly inflated, not only for safety purposes, but also to allow a long lifespan and usage for your tires. A tire pressure gauge is the best way to make sure your tires have the correct air pressure. As seen in an article from our friends at SimpleTire, we will discuss how to use a tire pressure gauge, as well as some tips and tricks for inflating your vehicle’s tires!

Using a tire pressure gauge is one of the simplest and easiest ways to maintain your ride. Every glove box should have a tire gauge, whether it is a manual or digital one. Many times, depending on your gauge and application, checking your tire pressure is as easy as just attaching the gauge to the valve stem on your tire and pressing the button. Sometimes it’s even automatic with no button–the future! Whenever you attach your tire gauge to the valve stem, it should give you a reading of the current air pressure in your tire. If the reading is lower than the recommended cold pressure for your vehicle, then you’ll need to add air to your tire. To do this, don’t try to use your mouth; you’ll have a bad time! Simply use an air compressor or a hand pump to add air to your tire until the desired pressure is reached.

There are a few tips to keep in mind when inflating your vehicle’s tires:

Inflate Your Cars Tires

– Make sure that you check your owner’s manual for the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle. Over Inflating or underinflating your tires can result in decreased fuel economy and reduced tire life.

– Be sure to only check your tire pressure when the tires are cool. If you have driven on your tires recently, it is best to wait until their temperatures have decreased to ambient temperature. This can usually take three to four hours depending on weather conditions.

– If you’re using an air compressor, be sure to turn it off when the desired pressure is reached. Overinflating, although uncommon, can cause your tires to burst!

– Always check the pressure in all four of your vehicle’s tires, even if only one appears to be low. Uneven tire pressure can cause handling problems, which can lead to poor braking and even accidents!

Following these simple tips will help you keep your vehicle’s tires properly inflated, ensuring a smooth ride and extending the life of your tires! Do you have any tips for inflating tires? Share them in the comments below!
