Could Bovensiepen’s Next Move Be a Sedan-Inspired by the Old Alpina B5?

The Bovensiepen name returned to the performance-car scene only recently, yet the family behind it hardly needs an introduction. Long before Alpina became part of BMW Group, the Bovensiepens were the people running the company. Now they are back with a new venture and a new product.

Their first model carries the 05 GT badge and starts from a BMW 5 Series Touring. Frank Stephenson handled the styling work. The wagon receives a redesigned front bumper, a mesh grille carrying the company’s logo, fresh side skirts, a different rear bumper, a roof spoiler, and a new wheel design.

Underneath the redesigned body sits a familiar setup. Bovensiepen chose the same plug-in hybrid system used by the BMW M5. A 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 works alongside electric assistance and delivers 789 brake horsepower. The figure translates to 800 horsepower or 588 kilowatts. Maximum torque reaches 811 pound-feet, equal to 1,100 Nm.

Those figures place the car ahead of the standard M5. BMW’s own model produces 717 brake horsepower, 727 ps, or 535 kW. Torque stands at 738 lb-ft, which equals 1,000 Nm.

While the wagon is already real, a sedan version exists only in digital form. Rendering artist Theottle recently published his interpretation online and referred to it as the Bovensiepen 05 GT Sedan.

The design does not wander far from the actual 05 GT. The front bumper remains. So does the distinctive grille carrying the Bovensiepen emblem. The rendered car keeps the side skirts, diffuser, quad exhaust outlets, and rear bumper treatment seen on the wagon.

Some proportions change, of course. The long cargo section disappears. The roofline drops sooner toward the rear. The rear side windows shrink, and the rear-quarter panels take on a different shape. Finished in blue, the sedan arguably feels even closer to the traditional Alpina formula than the Touring model.

Performance is not where Bovensiepen held back. The production wagon reaches 62 mph from rest in 3.6 seconds and continues to a claimed 190 mph. Weight comes in at 5,632 pounds, or 2,555 kg. Interestingly, that is only 11 pounds, or 5 kg, heavier than the BMW M5 Touring.

The company also revised more than the engine output. The package includes Eibach springs, modified support bearings, and a strut tower brace. Inside, buyers receive Lavalina leather and a wide range of color choices.

European pricing begins at 198,900 euros, roughly $230,000 using the exchange rate cited in the source. Deliveries of the Touring are scheduled to start during the fourth quarter of 2026.

As for the sedan, nobody from Bovensiepen has announced such a model. For now, it remains a rendering. Still, the idea looks surprisingly natural. The design already feels like it belongs in the lineup.
