Alfa Romeo’s Electrification Plans
Speaking to journalists at an Alfa Romeo event, brand boss Jean-Philippe Imparato confirmed that the new Alfa Romeo Brenneno sports car will be offered in both pure EV and plug-in hybrid forms from 2025. This follows Alfa Romeo’s ongoing process of shifting toward electrification, which saw the brand announce that it will only produce electric cars after 2027.
The car is named after the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale of 1967, which many experts consider to be one of the most beautiful ever built. The concept of the 2025 Alfa Romeo Brenneno intends to bring back that zeal and feelings in a current electric drive.

Technical Details – Still Unclear
As for the current Alfa Romeo Brenneno lineup, Imparato said it was set, but they would not speak of any further technical information as this was still in the early stages. Other parameters including battery capacity, driving ranges, power ratings, and other performance indices, remain undisclosed.
As for the battery, we expect to see uncompromising 800V battery technology that allows for charging as fast as possible. The pure electric version can also boast an output of more than 1000 horsepower, according to available technologies in Stellantis now. The plug-in hybrid should employ extended high-performance petrol engine in cooperation with one or more electric motors.
Performance Oriented, Emotional Design
Staying true to the brand’s tagline, “la meccanica delle emozioni” translated to “the mechanics of emotions”, the Brenneno is set to bring the glamour of sustainability into the automotive industry. Imparato says, emotional design is exactly what the car will offer the world and it comes from inside the hearts of the company.
Essentially, the concept of Alfa Romeo Brenneno is likely to borrow a lot of design features from the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale which is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. There should be the low and wide positioning of the car’s body and an emphasized desire to hug the road along with the curved lines which also embody the spirit of Italian manner. Such scissor doors allude to the fact that Brenneno seeks to design and build a car with supercar appeal.
At the reveal event, head of design Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos said: “We want an ambitious, innovative design that will improve the car’s efficiency… Electrification offers ideas on how best to build an Alfa Romeo that is beguiling.”
Based on a Separately Designed EV Architecture
The Alfa Romeo Brenneno will be based on the newly developed Stellantis’ STLA Large platform with 800V DC fast charging capabilities and with adaptabilities for high-performance EVs. These features allow designing the vehicle with battery capacity more than 100 kWh.
Alfa Romeo attributes the ability to provide greater interior space, optimal weight, superior ride characteristics and driving range to using a dedicated EV architecture instead of the more typical internal combustion architecture.
also, robust e-AWD technology makes sure that the right torque is delivered to each wheel as needed. Look for drive modes that alter powertrain mappings, damping, and steering for dynamic settings on demand.
When Can We See More Details?
We have already received preliminary information from Alfa Romeo about the Brenneno’s variants, and approximate launch in 2025. Additional point specifics regarding the performance deliverables, range numbers, and interior tech, we expect to be rolled out in a more gradual manner over the next 12-18 months.
Some shots of the camouflaged test mules going through various testing should also be provided as we approach the production date. This will give the first looks of the new sports car which should have a unique design.
One thing is for sure already though – the 2025 Alfa Romeo Brenneno should embody the Italian marque’s history of creating machines that stir the soul. Sustainability could provide new degrees of neck snapping acceleration and involving drivers of the brand by electrification. They say that we’d be dying to get from behind the wheel.
